Cosmetology Education Section

■Outline

The Jikei Group has a unique philosophy and objective for beauty education. It is essential that hairdressers, make-up artists, aestheticians have superior skills. Besides, we focus on the education of ﾒhumanity.ﾓ The rapidly increasing demand for specialists in the beauty industry today causes too many inexperienced workers to be produced and too many beauty salons to be opened. It seems that it is not how workers look or how well advertising is done that should count, but customer satisfaction which should be the top priority for the industry. While the sense of value is changing as time passes, techniques remain the most important in satisfying customers and offering comfortable services.

●CPI Educational System
We train students in the three stages: Communication, Professionalism, Independence. We also help them to acquire communicative ability, sensibility, creative ability, and the knowledge required to become professional.

■Topics from the Education Section

●Practical Training
Top-level artists and instructors from companies such as Shiseido, Kose, Givenchy, Mac, offer practical training at school so that students can find something new and exciting.

●Role Playing
In make-up technique or beauty-counseling class, students are supposed to wear uniforms and name plates. We provide them with quasi-workplaces.

●Field Training
Students have chances to practice at top-level salons in Japan. After their graduation, we assist students who are eager to practice at the worldﾕs top salons in the beauty industry overseas such as those in New York.

■Program Introduction

●Tokyo College of Medico-Pharmaco Technology
Pharmaceutical Department　Make-Up Artist Course：
Students are trained to become beauty advisors who are active in cosmetic companies or shops and aestheticians who work at beauty salons. Make-up techniques and the communicative ability required of a salesperson are basic skills to acquire in this course. To strengthen these skills, students are supposed to obtain the following three essential licenses: the Coloring Ability Examination for Fashion Coordination, the Sales License, and the Makeup Artist License authorized by JESC. This course produces indispensable beauty advisors and aestheticians with those abilities and licenses.

●Belle Epoque College of Beauty (Sapporo School)
Hairdresser Department：
This department aims to produce hairdressers who can think actively using their initiative. Through practical training, students learn skills in hairdressing, the quality of being polite to satisfy customers, and communication and counseling ability to listen to what customers want and express it in words. In addition, students are expected to obtain licenses such as the Nail Artist Examination, the Coloring Ability Examination for Fashion coordination, and the Makeup Artist License authorized by JESC so that they can expand their skills and become indispensable hairdressers who will be active in this new era.
Total Beauty Care Department：
This department aims to produce total beauty specialists who create beauty for both body and mind. Students choose Hair-Makeup Artist Course or Aesthetician Course in the second half of the first-year to acquire specialized technique. Students are expected to obtain licenses such as the Nail Artist Examination, Coloring Ability Examination for Fashion Coordination, and Makeup Artist license authorized by JESC so that they can offer high-quality technique and become coordinators needed by the beauty and health industry.

●Osaka College of Medical Technology
Pharmaceutical Department ：
In addition to knowledge and skills of makeup, students also learn esthetic knowledge and skills, such as the efficacy and effects of cosmetics on skincare, according to the ingredient label. Moreover, they learn healthcare, counseling, and business skills so that they can give appropriate advice to customers.

●Osaka School of Music
Makeup & Stylist Department：
Not only in the entertainment and mass-communication industries, but also in the modern world in general, visual perception, i.e. visual impression, plays an important role. Solid techniques, attention to the trend of the times and sensibility to make things are requirements for professionals working in these creative fields. In the Makeup Department, together with the ability to enhance and improve visual image, students are trained as skilled professionals to be able to present their works to industry as a form of art.

●Broadcasting Art College
Makeup & Stylist Department:：
The department is for people wishing to work in fields such as celebrity makeup, makeup artistry, stage makeup, special-effects makeup, styling, and nail-art. Professionals from those fields will instruct students on makeup as a whole, from hair/makeup to applied makeup, special-effects makeup, and nail art. Students have chances to work as an assistant to professional staff on drama sets and stages, and directly experience and learn the actual work on-site. Also, inside the school, students work on makeup and styling for drama and television program production in joint classes with students from other departments, and hold makeup shows. With hands-on training and learning, students are prepared for work as professional celebrity makeup artists or stylists after graduation.
